Getting a mammogram is important and we are here for you every step of the way. At Madison Regional Health System we offer 3D mammograms. 3D mammograms are used to look for breast cancer and they can also be used to investigate the cause of breast problems, such as a breast mass, pain, and nipple discharge. 3D mammograms increase the number of cancers detected during screening and may reduce the risk of death due to breast cancer.
High-risk factors for breast cancer include:
- a family history of breast cancer, self-history of breast cancer
- being a carrier of genetic mutations such as BRCA1 and BRCA2
- and/or dense breast tissue is shown in your mammogram
Our newest mammography machine, GE Senographe Pristina, offers greater comfort by letting you help control your breast compression level with the Dueta Handheld Remote. Mammograms are important, and so is your comfort and care.
