Teresa Mallett Named to Becker’s List of Critical Access Hospital CEOs to Know

Madison Regional Health System is proud to announce that Chief Executive Officer Teresa Mallett has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of the 2025 “Critical Access Hospital Presidents and CEOs to Know.”

This annual list highlights leaders who are driving growth, strengthening partnerships, and improving the health and well-being of their communities. These executives play a pivotal role in ensuring that patients in rural and underserved regions have access to high‑quality care.

According to Becker’s, the CEOs featured on this list are “innovative, strategic thinkers who continually reimagine how to elevate safety, quality, outcomes, and service offerings, often while navigating recruitment and retention challenges.” Their leadership reflects an understanding of the vital role critical access hospitals play in sustaining and strengthening healthcare in their communities.

Becker’s Healthcare published the following profile of Teresa Mallett:

“Ms. Mallett was named CEO of the 22‑bed Madison Regional Health System in January 2025 after more than a decade of executive leadership within the organization. A South Dakota native, she previously served as CFO since 2012, where she played a central role in strengthening the system’s financial performance and operational infrastructure. During her tenure, Ms. Mallett led hospital‑wide software implementations, served as financial project manager for the hospital replacement project, and supported the recruitment of new medical providers. She also helped guide the acquisition of several physician practices, expanding access and continuity of care for the community. Her promotion followed a national search of more than 100 candidates. Ms. Mallett’s appointment ensured continuity in leadership and positioned Madison Regional Health System for sustained growth and long‑term success.”
