Laurel Jennings, MD, recently became a Certified Menopause Provider through The Menopause Society.
By becoming certified by The Menopause Society, healthcare professionals have demonstrated a higher level of expertise in the field of menopause. Those who earn this credential are recognized as Menopause Society Certified Practitioners.
As a physician who cares for many women, Dr. Jennings believes it is important for her to be able to offer her patients the most up-to-date and best care possible, which is why she became a Certified Menopause Provider.
“As a woman of perimenopausal age myself, I noted that when looking for information, tips, and commiseration, there’s a lot of information out there, especially on social media. Unfortunately, not all of it is based in proven science. Seeing influencers making recommendations for treatments that may not be FDA-approved or safe for certain patients and conditions is of great concern to me,” Dr. Jennings states.
By seeking certification through The Menopause Society, Dr. Jennings hoped to ensure that women in our community searching for care for perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms could find a Certified Menopause Provider close to home. Click here to view her profile on The Menopause Society’s website.
Perimenopause and menopause affect every woman differently, and care should never be one-size-fits-all. Common symptoms include hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness and irritation, pain with intercourse, and sleep disturbances. These symptoms can have a significant impact on quality of life, making access to personalized care especially important.
Dr. Jennings is committed to helping patients understand their options and make informed decisions based on their individual health needs and goals.
“I would like to be a trusted source for patients to navigate their symptoms in a safe, science-based manner, and counsel them appropriately about treatments that may or may not be ideal or safe for them individually. We will work together for the best treatment for you based on your symptoms. I don’t get any direct financial benefit from the treatments I recommend, so you can be confident that your health and wellbeing is my priority.”
