Antibiotic Resistance

“An estimated 30% of all prescriptions for antibiotics have been deemed unnecessary by research done in partnership with the CDC. As a healthcare team we are working diligently to improve antibiotic prescribing practices thereby saving lives by reducing formation of ‘superbugs.’ Examples of times in which antibiotics are unnecessary include colds, the majority of sinus infections (especially early on in the course of illness), some ear infections, sore throats not caused by Group A Strep, and most cases of bronchitis. Please consult with your healthcare provider if you are concerned antibiotics may be necessary and do your part to prevent drug resistant infections by not using any old antibiotics prescriptions you have at home when you don’t feel well.”
