I am from Miller, South Dakota. While growing up, I knew I wanted to do something with science when I got older and considered becoming a Veterinarian. However, my 8th grade English teacher told me, “You should be a medical doctor and work with people.” After medical school, I was looking for a position to practice Family Medicine with Obstetrics close to my family and landed here in Madison, South Dakota.
I am passionate about preventative care and rural healthcare. I love taking care of families and seeing generations grow. I am also very passionate about Dyslexia awareness and making sure all kids have an equal opportunity at learning how to read.
Important advice to bestow on my patients is that self-care is crucial; take the time to eat healthy and exercise.
When I work with my patients, it is important to me to build a relationship with them. As my patients get to know me, and trust me, we are more comfortable working together. Once in a while, I also like to throw in a little humor.
When I am not working, I enjoy golfing and reading. However, I spend most of my free time with my children at their extracurricular and school activities.
